At the TIPS journal club meeting held on December 24, 2018, the topic of “Journey to the Center of the Fetal Brain: Environmental Exposures and Autophagys” was presented by Dr. Kayvan Mirnia, the TIPS invited speaker. Dr. Mirnia is an Assistant professor of Neonatology in children's hospital centre, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. In this presentation environmental effects on fetal brain development were discussed. Later on, mechanisms regarding environmental effects on cellular autophagy and its translation in clinic especially in case of IUGR hypotonia asphyxia spasticity were discussed. It is known that the cause of asphyxia spasticity might be due to the genetic background or some other metabolic disease. Considering other factors and biomarker like autophagosomal marker, chain (LC3) may give us a deeper insight regarding this disorder.
